(KCBS Radio) – The Bishop Ranch Office Park in San Ramon is in the final testing phase of a driverless, electric shuttle.
The vehicle can carry 12 passengers between stops at the 500-acre parks office buildings. Transportation officials hope the shuttle persuades people to use public transportation instead of driving to work.
These are the first autonomous vehicles in California to be allowed on the open road without a driver.
They expect to start carrying passengers when testing is complete April 27.
